after a break for over a year pattern repeat is back again with another two tracks on their own label. both kenneth & resoe has been really busy last year, so it has been difficult to meet up in the studio. but now they had the time to finish two tracks of deep dirty techno from the capitol of denmark copenhagen. again they set it of with raw dirty dub infected grooves and the a side starts up right away with the dub elements intact, and then keeps building through the rest of the track. after the short break a hypnotic atmosphere kicks off in best pattern repeat style. the b side starts slowly with an almost alfred hitchcock kind of atmosphere, with a dull kick underneath. the track keeps gettin more dirty through the 6 min. and 15 secs. it last, with more distortion added to the dub stabs. its a good way that kenneth & resoe returns since the last 12 inch they put out in december 2010, to set the stage for 2012.

wax classic is a brand new skylax sub � label. for this 3rd release, we give you the opportunity to grab 5 fantastic trax done by housemaster : jason grove.born in detroit, he started his career in the late 80s, dj-ing in underground parties when the techno house movement was just at the beginning. he was invited few times on detroit local stations such as wdrq & wjlb to play. some said he was at that time very close to the >wizard<, helping producing their first tracks with anthony srock as final cut. he had many opportunities during the 90s to release some of his work on various prestigious labels, however, as the guy is really hardcore & straight edge, he prefered to continue producing only with analog gears (dont ever speak to him about a computer or he?ll get mad !) & record his work on cassette only, selling it to indie stores & giving it to friends for some special events (birthday, graduation ect ... !). after the incredible release we had on wax classic 1 (another skylax sub � label), you can grab finally the 2 nd part of those legendary tapes.

the first world unknown 12 inch of 2012 is a double header of throbbing midtempo techno and as with all world unknown releases from now on both tracks have been mastered for vinyl from ½ inch tape for maximum sonic excellence. on side w semtek from dont be afraid joins forces with his afterparty alter-ego chardonnay and a certain rather well known og hipster poet on >tacos for dinner<, an extremely modern and massively psychedelic trip into the outer mind. this clicking, bleeping, fizzing and throbbing ten minute excursion has been road tested from acetate by andy blake for many months and always sends the club somewhere very special and ever so slightly scary. on side u scott fraser delivers >remains the same<. its a notch or two less pacey than side w but no less powerful or psychedelic. its earthy vibe and pounding, throbbing tones have been part of andrew weatheralls sets for some time now and its not hard to see why. when the full percussion finally comes crunching in like a breakbeat on top of the ever-present heavyweight bassline its disco pandemonium time. in short, possibly the best 12 inch so far from wu.

juan atkins returns to r&s on a model 500 solo mission. the last model 500 single enlisted the help of the live line up that includes detroit techno royalty mike banks and ur alumni mark taylor, but this latest release is just juan in the studio and back at his best. >control< is vintage model 500, the classic electro that atkins pretty much invented, with his treated vocals riding over the crisp rhythm programming, dark basslines and detroit synths. >the messenger< on the flip is a moodier affair, with the liquid synths almost running away with themselves over the rough beats. model 500 and r&s has proved to have been a classic combination over the years and this release is one to file next to the classics.

in advance of the release of dapayk & padbergs third full-length sweet nothings - this time round on stil vor talent - the experienced duo are teasing us with the fluffy cloud ep, which showcases three of the album�s many diverse highlights, while keeping the vinyl lovers happy. the a-side bears the lps title track >sweet nothings<, on which dapayk & padberg�s sound takes a turn as they come knocking with a deep but forceful groover, whose distorted high-hats and trancey synth stabs create a vibe both euphoric and weirdly subdued. the lyrics, moreover, emphasise the duality at the core of many dapayk & padberg tracks as the latter ponders �you�re good for me - you�re bad for me�. showing another of the duo�s many facets, �backyard� enchants thanks to mystical lyrics sung beautifully over a deep quasi-dubstep structure. marking the ep�s mid-point, the atmospheric song shines through intricately crafted fragility and is the perfect contrast to the previous and following track, while leaving a strong desire for more stuck in the listener�s mind. on the b-side, �fluffy clouds� does quite the opposite to what its title suggests - rather than being a soft little piece, we are treated to big-room techno fodder à la berghain. a skeletal framework of heavy kicks, dark pads, white noise and dense metallics works relentlessly underneath a cold spoken word, proclaiming >not human, not animal - just a body in motion<. machine funk par excellence.
